AUDIT TEAM LEADER

Job Purpose and Summary
The Audit Team Leader position will be responsible for managing a team of energy engineers to deliver technical energy audits, generally aimed at reducing water and energy consumption.  The successful candidate will provide expertise and oversight in the energy benchmarking, goal setting, monitoring and verification of energy flows within buildings.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and participate in performing preliminary and detailed energy audits of basic energy performance contracting projects
  • Perform on-site energy efficiency audits that are focused on mechanical systems, control systems and lighting energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Utilize site measurements and information to help shape project scope and justify measurement selection, energy use calculations and M&V strategies.
  • Complete EEM energy calculations, savings projections and narrative descriptions.
  • Recommend and analyze energy efficiency measures (EEM). Perform savings calculations and identify any risks associated with the projections, scenario projections, sensitivity analysis and lifecycle costing.
  • Co-present audit/design findings to the client along with the engineering team. 
  • Develop technical standards, protocols and requirements for innovative energy efficiency and demand side management programs in collaboration with Project Managers and Financial Managers.
  • Collaborate, coach and mentor the team to improve knowledge and skills across the department.

Experience, Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • 7-8+ years’ experience in an energy or related engineering position with experience in working with energy efficiency construction projects in commercial and residential facilities. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or energy engineering field. CEM preferred.  Strong knowledge base of energy efficiency methodology and building engineering and design. Strong written and oral communication skills for customer interaction and report writing.  Strong working knowledge of Building Management Systems.

 

Senior Energy Engineer

Job Purpose and Summary
The Senior Energy Engineer position will focus on the auditing, design, implementation and operation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, as well as support with design, specification and the growth of technology and controls group, including annual maintenance contracts. This position is responsible for the development of complex projects of unlimited scope and size on large buildings and developments.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site energy efficiency audits that are focused on mechanical system, control systems and lighting energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Complete EEM energy calculations, savings projections and narrative descriptions. Recommend and analyze energy efficiency measures (EEM).
  • Perform savings calculations and identify any risk associated with the projections, scenario projections, sensitivity analysis and lifecycle costing.
  • Create concept and schematic design, calculations and drawing production
  • Co-present audit/design findings to the client along with the engineering team.
  • Utilize site measurements and information to help shape project scope and justify measurement selection, energy use calculations and M&V strategies.
  • Plan, organize, and participate in performing preliminary and detailed project development audits of basic performance contracting projects
    Define project scope and perform project estimates. Ensure project estimates are accurate and the project scope is executable within the budget
  • Prepare technical audit, energy, M&V and project performance reports
  • Develop technical standards, protocols and requirements for innovative energy efficiency and demand side management programs in collaboration with Project Managers and Financial Managers.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures for energy and green building programs for current and future projects
    Research emerging technologies and standards for implementation into company practice and project implementation.
  • Provide engineering information and advice to the team on specific issues. Collaborate, coach and mentor the team to improve knowledge and skills across the department.

  •  8+ years’ experience in energy or related engineering position with experience in working with energy efficient construction projects in commercial and residential facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or energy engineering field. CEM preferred.

Senior BMS Controls Engineer

Job Purpose and Summary
The Senior BMS Controls Engineer will lead the design, development, application, and implementation of control systems for energy efficiency, performance contracting, retrofit for existing and new company projects.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop initial scoping for all new projects, basis of design, commissioning protocols and/or detailed tender/pricing documentation in collaboration with the team to design, program and start up control systems for projects.
  • Take technical responsibility for operational aspects of the BMS for all projects; including: System performance, minor upgrades, metering, associated energy and plant load review, 3rd party integrations using Modbus, LON, KNX, BACnet etc.
  • Liaise with and supervise external consultants, contractors, service engineers and suppliers. This includes review of technical submissions, site inspections, witnessing and ‘sign off’ of new and/or extended building control systems.
  • Lead the development of building controls standards, updating and/or creation of appropriate management procedures.
  • Manage change control procedures for all building control systems/installations and keep up to date records of all QA documentation.
  • Provide operational support and analysis of the control systems on all site mechanical & electrical services, including problem solving and fault diagnosis for the air conditioning, general and specialist ventilation, chilled water, refrigeration, hot and cold-water systems, electrical monitoring, etc.
  • Support in the strategy, planning, development and deployment of analytics, controls and building dashboard systems.
    Assist the technology department to integrate the BMS systems into our proprietary controls software.

Experience, Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • 12-15+ years’ experience in a similar BMS Controls role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge of controls and BMS.
  • Strong knowledge base of energy efficiency methodology and building engineering and design.

Preffered Skills:

  • Advanced skills in Niagara N4/AX is mandatory.
  • Ability to navigate different BMS software.
  • Good communication skills, ability to plan and organize daily activities, action-oriented, high ability to analyze and resolve problems, ability to perform under pressure and recognize when a sense of urgency is critical, ability to be flexible and adapt to dynamic environments.
