UAE business owner, Charles Blaschke is currently flying the flag for the UAE, and the wider GCC in New York this week.
His business, Taka Solutions is a global finalist in Chivas Regal’s entrepreneurial competition, The Venture. Blaschke is in New York to showcase his business idea to the judges, up against 25 other dynamic business owners from across the world.
Judges will include actress Eva Longoria, and comedian and host of The Daily Show – Trevor Noah. The judges will decide on how a USD1 million prize fund is divided among the finalists – so it’s up to Blaschke to plead his company’s case.
Taka Solutions is an energy solutions company – helping existing and new buildings to reduce their energy output. The idea for Taka came when Blaschke was working on a structure – and realised how much money could be saved from simple equipment installations.
“We got the idea, because when we saw how much money could be saved, on just fitting out one building with minimal equipment – it just made sense,” he explains.
Every structure that is fitted out by Taka then only pays fees to the company out of the savings the buildings make on energy bills.
Blaschke explains: “If they don’t save money on power bills, they don’t pay anything to us. They’ve got nothing to lose.”
Taka Solutions has worked with several notable structures in Dubai, including Fairmont the Palm.
